Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is yoga with a specific focus. It is client-centered, molding the teachings to your needs. Yoga Therapy places equal emphasis on the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of being. It is for anyone and any body with any physical, emotional or spiritual condition. The International Association of Yoga Therapist states that “A Yoga Therapist empowers individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga. Yoga therapy is founded on the basic principle that intelligent practice can positively influence the direction of change within these human dimensions, which are distinct from an individual’s unchanging nature or spirit. The goals of yoga therapy include eliminating, reducing, and/or managing symptoms that cause suffering; improving function; helping to prevent the occurrence or re-occurrence of underlying causes of illness; and moving toward improved health and well-being.”

For those new to this modality and who are interested in a session OR if you who want to continue your therapeutic yoga journey with me, let’s go! We can meet online if that is still your comfort zone, in-person at my studio, at Movement Forward studio in town, or in your home. We will create a program specifically for you which will consist of asana (postures), somatic and restorative movements, breath work, meditation, mudra and some other surprises that come from the world of functional fitness and dance.

If you are new to this work and are interested, please email me via this website or at lisagulotta@gmail.com. Once we’ve had our initial contact, you will be asked to fill out a Personal History Form.

Testimonials

Lisa, I’m so encouraged by our work! Encouraged by how great my body works after sessions (there’s hope!),..a little discouraged by weakness in my legs. I know there’s a lot to do, but I’m ready! Just wanted to thank you for going on this journey! ~Karen M.

Thanks you so much for all of the time and attention you gave me in our Yoga therapy sessions. Not only did I enjoy getting to know you but I truly feel our work has helped me make small changes in my practice that yield big results. I am in awe of your constant high level of dedication to your students. ~MCS
